Clean BBQ Ideas
Summer
is here and it is beer and BBQ season! Total diet destroyer! Don’t sit inside
trying to avoid the delicious calls or BBQ burgers, instead, try a healthier
option, with all the flavor! Although alcohol is never good for ones training
and diet, sometimes it can’t be avoided, or a little treat once in a while is
deserved! Opt for a low sugar mojito and pass up the beer instead. AND still
impress your friends with your drink making and BBQing skills ;)
Low Fat Jalapeño
Cheddar Burgers
2lb Extra Lean Ground Beef
2 jalapeño peppers, de-seeded, diced
1 small Onion, diced
½ c shredded 75% Fat Free Cheddar Cheese
1 egg
1/3 c Oats
2 tsp Garlic Powder
Mix all ingredients together with hands, making sure
ingredients are evenly distributed.
Form into shape of burger, approx. ½ inch thick. (Should
make 6 patties)
Preheat BBQ. Cook patties on bbq, being careful not to flip
too frequently. Approximately 7 minutes each side, depending on desired
doneness.
Serve with 100% whole wheat “Thins” buns, toasted slightly
on BBQ.
Blueberry Mint
Mojitos
4 oz Vodka
10 Mint leaves
¼ c Frozen (or fresh) Blueberries
1 ½ c Club Soda
2 Packages of Splenda
4 wedges of lime
Ice
Chop mint leaves roughly.
In a shallow bowl, muddle together 2 wedges of lime (squeeze
juice first), all the mint leaves, and blueberries.
Divide the muddled mixture into 2 tall glasses, adding ice,
2 ounces of vodka per glass, one packet of Splenda each, and 3/4c of Club Soda.
Garnish with lime wedge and fancy straw!
